During her time at the home, Ruth was not only cared for but also equipped with life skills that would later become the foundation of her livelihood. One of the most impactful lessons she learned was farming, a skill she continues to practice today.
Together with her husband, she has built a stable and growing life through entrepreneurship and hard work. She currently runs her own shop at Zvimba Shopping Centre, providing goods to her local community.
In addition, she operates a small canteen where she sells chips and burgers, creating an additional source of income. Her entrepreneurial spirit does not stop there, Ruth is also involved in small-scale farming, which continues to contribute to her family’s wellbeing.
Together with her husband, they also run a transportation service using their own vehicle through InDrive, further diversifying their income streams. In addition, they rear road runner chickens, demonstrating their commitment to building sustainable and practical livelihoods.
The skills Ruth gained during her time at the Patricia Jabangwe Children’s Home continue to play a significant role in her life today. From farming to discipline and perseverance, these lessons have helped her create opportunities for herself and her family.
Ruth’s journey is a powerful example of how determination, combined with the right foundation, can lead to a stable and fulfilling life. She continues to grow her businesses and looks forward to expanding her ventures even further in the future.
