Our Story

Family Health & Social Services [T/A] Patricia Jabangwe Children’s Home

The story of Patricia Jabangwe Children’s Home is one of love, compassion, and unwavering faith in the value of every child.
Founded in 2010 by the late Gogo Patricia Rhoda Jabangwe, the home began as a simple act of kindness, a widow opening her home and heart to children who had nowhere else to turn.

Long before the home was established, Gogo and her husband, Rev. John W. Jabangwe, had already dedicated their lives to helping the vulnerable. In 1969, they were sent to London to study social work with a focus on child welfare. Upon returning to Zimbabwe, they managed Matthew Rusike Children’s Home, one of the first African-run children’s homes in the country.

After retiring from ministry, Gogo saw the growing need for care caused by HIV, poverty, and family breakdowns. She could not look away. Using her own house and resources, she created a safe space for children who were orphaned, abused, or abandoned a place where they could rediscover joy, belonging, and hope.

Today, her daughter Faith and son-in-law Eben continue her legacy with the same love and dedication, supported by a small but passionate team led by Dr. Siwela. Together, they ensure the home remains a true family, not an institution, but a place where children live, learn, and grow surrounded by care.
